For more than 300 episodes, Monster Kid Radio has been the podcast devoted to the classic, and sometimes not-so-classic, genre cinema of yesteryear. Creator/producer Derek M. Koch has been podcasting since 2008, and when launching Monster Kid Radio in 2013 was a culmination of his lifelong fandom of classic horror and sci-fi cinema. Monster Kid Radio has been the home for discussions about the well-known monster movies of the past, like Dracula (dir. Tod Browning), King Kong (dir. Merian C. Cooper, Ernest B. Schoedsack), and The Fly (dir. Kurt Neumann), as well as some more off-the-wall or obscure fare, like The Slime People (dir. Robert Hutton), Sting of Death (dir. William Grefe), and Santo vs. the Martian Invasion (dir. Alfredo B. Crevenna). Derek doesn’t just talk about these movies by himself. His ever-rotating stable of guests includes fellow podcasters, authors, filmmakers, and bloggers.
Monster Kid Radio was awarded the 2014 Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Award for Best Multimedia Site, and has consistently been a yearly nominee for this award ever since.
